Happy Holidays

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays for those of you that don't celebrate any of the first ones (I can't leave anyone out now can I?)

Things here have been good. I have returned from Cairo and am back in Uganda. I am happy to be back "home". Yes, I now call Uganda home, which I am taking to be a good sign of integration into the culture.

I went to Cairo to visit my friend Su for 10 days (including Christmas) and it was a good trip. We went to see the Pyramids and the Sphinx, Coptic Cairo, Mt. Sinai, and other things around Cairo. I'm not sure if I could live in Cairo though...I think my life is too adjusted to the slow village life now...too many cars, lots of smog, too much smoke....but it was nice. The Pyramids were nice, something everyone should see....and Sinai was beautiful. I want to get pictures up but need to wait til I have internet that can handle it. Hopefully within the next week I will be able to get them up, but I make no promises.

We spent Christmas with some friends of Su's. We did the church thing on Christmas Eve and then went to a friends house for a Turkey dinner on Christmas day. It was a good time.

Some of the things that made me laugh/smile/irritate while in Egypt are as follows: christmas lights and decorations everywhere (isn't it a Muslim country?), teenage boys wanting my picture, meeting other travelers just trying to get home from Sinai (Australian guy and French girl), good food (i gained 6 pounds!!), pomegranites (sp?), CHEESE!, BREAD! (yea i'm slightly deprived in Uganda), camels, camel police, the other end of the nile, falafel, seeing su and many more!

well I could probably write more, but I am out of internet time (paying by the minute here is not a good idea...what i wouldn't do for constant high speed again!)...Hope everyone has a fabulous 2008. It will be over before you know it (which is quite scary!). Miss you all. Happy New Year!
