things are just so normal...
yes, i know, its been 2 months since i've posted. i also know that i'm a slaker, but the problem is that life has become very common. nothing changes...not much becomes exciting. so i'll try to write about something worthwhile.
schools have started up again. this has made things busy again. i am still teaching at the college, and working with the primary schools...but i've also started a new project in bududa. i have been working with some other americans to start up a vocational school. the school opened its doors on 4th feb 2008. the three vocations that we are teaching are: bricklaying and concrete practice, tailoring and textiles, and nursery teacher training. it is all going well. i am teaching math there 3 days a week and i love it. the classes are TINY (12 students max!). I am also responsible for deriving a mathematics curriculum for the school. i am happy to do this work because it keeps me busy. i was never one that could keep myself happy if i wasn't doing something productive. i do, however, wonder about my curriculum writing abilities, but you have to learn at some point. if anyone has some pointers, feel free to email them my way. i may or may not get them before finishing my curriculum but they will help.
things in bududa are going well. nothing overly exciting happening at home. i finally bought a wardrobe to put my clothes in so that they are off shelves and out of suitcases. heck, it only took a year.
speaking of that -- can you believe that i've been here for a year already? i cant...we arrived in uganda on march 06 2007 and the time has flown. i'll be home before you all know it. when i get home i'm hoping to go back to school. i might work, but idk...we'll see. i am spending my time preparing for the foreign service exam and the gre (yea i dont do as well on standardized tests as i should...and theres plenty of time here to study). i'm not so worried about the math section of the gre, but english..ha!
i havent posted pictures, and i apologize for that tremendously. i am going to try to do it this week. the problem has been with my computer. i'll fix it, eventually, but i havent been able to post through it and it takes too long otherwise.
i have been spending quite a bit of time at the pool lately, and i've been loving it. working on my tan! you'll all be jealous when you see me and you're all pale! hahahah. its been the dry season here and its been hotter, but i have been waiting patiently for the rains to come back so i can start wearing sweatshirts at night and in the morning again.
well i think thats all. i'm sorry my life is so boring, but its just about the same everyday.
hope all is well there... thank you to everyone that has been sending things my way. they really bring a smile to my face, especially when i don't know they're coming. letters and packages and little emails really make my day. miss you all! have a good one. byee :)
