things are great
Okay, so I've been a slacker on this posting thing...I do sincerly apologize.
Things here are good. I am teaching still, but am getting ready to back up a bit on that. As I mentioned earlier, I am trying to raise funds to do some infrastructure development at my primary school. Thanks to all your continued support, I am doing well with my fund raising and hope to begin that project soon. That project will take up lots of my time and therefore will not have as much time for anything else. We are hoping that the project will take 4 months but may take more since there are occasionally bumps in the road here.
I don't know what else to say other than things are good. I wake up every morning, usually with the chickens and head out for my daily activities. That's all...Not much new or exciting...
Oh yea, its August...that means its time for Circumcision...Every other year (even numbered years) the tribe I live within holds adult male circumcision throughout the month of August (and some in December). What does this mean for me? Well, every day each clan (family) that is having boys/men circumcised gathers and they prance around the roads for hours in groups (sometimes upwards of 100+) half dressed yelling and carrying sticks, pangas (machettes) drums, bells and anything else they feel like carrying. The girls dance and its interesting...unless you're trying to get home late afternoon and you have to fight your way through seemingly crazy people. But it is an interesting cultural experience. You know which boys have been circumcised since they wear skirts until they heal. Its interesting...
Other than that theres nothing new.
Hope all is well there. miss you! See you all soon! Thanks for your continued support!
